Evolution of mind.

Evolution does not operate in isolation; thus mobility in a species arose as a consequence of elements of distance in the environment. Better sight arose as a result of danger or location of food, etc.

What of mind and intelligence? Did it just arise? Or did it arise in relation to something in the environment? If so, what? How can we understand it?

If the theory arrived at is all embracing then it should throw light on these issues, offer insight into them.
